Pillar 05 · Rhythm · Release 05

The cadence that keeps the engine honest between quarter ends.

A system that only exists on paper is not a system. Vision sets the destination, Language the words, Process the way of working — but Rhythm decides how often you actually look, and at what. It is the pillar that switches the others on.

PILLAR 05 / 05 DIMENSIONS PEOPLE · PROCESS · DATA INSTRUMENT CADENCE STACK LICENSE CC BY-SA 4.0

The earlier pillars build the machine. Rhythm runs it. This release completes three things the others deliberately deferred: the meeting frequencies from Process, the Friction Log review cadence from Process, and the rolling forecast hinted at in Language.

Rhythm across the three dimensions

People. A cadence of human attention — weekly 1:1s separate from pipeline, coaching on good weeks not just bad ones. Level 5: coaching is peer-to-peer and self-sustaining, and the cadence survives a leadership change.

Process. A defined cadence stack — daily to quarterly — where every meeting produces one decision. Level 5: quarter-end distortion is measurably absent because the rhythm never let the quarter drift.

Data. Forecasting as a continuous instrument, not a night-before-the-board ritual. Level 5: leading indicators flag at week 2 what the quarter will miss at week 12, and pre-built plays trigger.

The instrument

Every pillar ships a working instrument. Rhythm's is the operating rhythm itself, plus the forecast that runs on it.

The Cadence Stack & Rolling Forecast

  1. The full meeting rhythm, daily to quarterly, each tied to the one decision it exists to produce.
  2. An internal Upfront Contract per recurring meeting — agenda, timebox, decision, and the anti-pattern that kills it.
  3. A continuous forecast on maintained data, tied to the Language taxonomy — week-over-week movement you can trust.
  4. The week-2 signals that predict the quarter, each with a pre-built play that triggers on breach.
  5. A Results-Objectives-Activities plan to install the rhythm and make it stick.
